How long will the battery life last?
Depends on the distance traveled, but typically 6 to 8 hours of driving time. The charge will hold very well while not in use, draining only about 5% of the power per month. The battery itself is a high-quality lithium-ion (LifePO4) battery capable of being charged 1,000+ times in its lifetime.
-
What type of battery do Travel Buggy electric wheelchairs use?
Our foldable power chairs use the latest in Lithium-ion polymer (LiPo) battery technology. Lithium batteries produce a longer range than standard acid batteries and last significantly longer (often up to 1000 charge cycles)
-
How long does is take the battery to charge?
Varies by battery and model, usually about 5 to 7 hours for our larger batteries.
-
What else should I know about Lithium-Ion Batteries?
Lithium-ion polymer (LifePO4) batteries are significantly more efficient in power to weight output compared to traditional acid and traditional lithium-ion batteries. This means we can make them smaller and lighter than other power wheelchair batteries. They will last over 1,000 total recharges, so expect the life to be over 5 years depending on usage. You don’t need to “set the memory” by draining the battery to empty the first time, you can charge it any time. When not in use, there is a very slow drain of the power, about 5% per month compared to 30% with traditional batteries, so they last longer even when not in use. Our batteries weigh about 3.5 lbs each. If you have any further questions about these batteries, please call or email us.
